Congratulations to Maria Lukatskaya and her co-authors Michael Ghidiu, Olha Mashtalir, Chang (Evelyn) Ren, Mengqiang Zhao, and Yohan Dall’Agnese, who won the 2nd place in the Student Poster Competition at the Electrochemical Society Meeting in Chicago for their poster titled: “Cation Intercalation and High Volumetric Capacitance of Two-Dimensional Titanium Carbide”. Our group is represented in Chicago by 5 people from Drexel plus 1 from France (Yohan Dall’Agnese – dual degree PhD student), who all presented papers and posters, including an invited talk delivered by Vadym.
Congratulations to Olya Mashtalir, who has been selected to receive the Research Excellence Award from Drexel University. She has done outstanding research and this award is well deserved. Please mark you calendars – there will be a reception in the Great Court on May 29 at 5 pm.
Congratulations to Kristy Jost and Kelsey Hatzell! Both DNI group members successfully defended their dissertations and will be graduating in June 2015.
Congratulations to Katie Van Aken, who has been awarded an Alumni Association’s Outstanding Student Award. The award is given to students who demonstrate both active involvement and leadership in University activities and community organizations as demonstrated through commitment of time and roles of responsibility. Nominees should also be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Katie is certainly a leader in both, research and outreach activities.

NMG group member, Amanda Pentecost, and fellow MSE students traveled to the Material Advantage’s Congressional Visits Day on April 15, 2015 in Washington, D.C. The students met with local congressional staffers and discuss how federal STEM funding has positively affected them allowed the students to perform incredible, groundbreaking research at Drexel.
