Dr. Vadym Mochalin, who was a key member of DNI for many years, is now a tenured Associate Professor of Chemistry and Materials Science & Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Congratulations to Dr. Vadym Mochalin and his hard work!

Congratulations to Our Undergraduate Student, Marley Downes, for Having Her Work Displayed at the Undergraduate Week of Excellence

Marley Downes’ work about “Quantitative Investigation on Lithium Polysulfide Adsorption of MXene Compositions for High Performance Li-S Batteries” was selected to be displayed at the Undergraduate Week of Excellence coordinated by Undergraduate Research & Enrichment Programs in the Pennoni Honors College at Drexel University. Her poster will be on display all week at the following link:

Congratulations to Marley for her hard work!

Our Alumni, Kelsey Hatzell and Babak Anasori, Were Recognized Among the Drexel 40 Under 40 Program This Year

Two of our alumni, Kelsey Hatzell and Babak Anasori, were recognized among the Drexel 40 under 40 program this year. Both Kelsey Hatzell and Babak Anasori are each in an independent faculty position. They follow Maria Lukatskaya (2020), Pri Narang (2019), Kristy Jost (2018), and several earlier recipients of this recognition.

EOFlow’s Subsidiary Uses MXene Material for Development of Wearable Dialysis System

EOFlow’s subsidiary, Nephria Bio, has signed a license agreement with Drexel University on the transfer of new MXene nanomaterial technology. As a result, Nephria secured exclusive rights to use MXenes for the development of a wearable dialysis system, known as the wearable artificial kidney. As stated in the article by Drexel University, the technology could allow many of the millions of people suffering from end-stage kidney disease worldwide to move more freely, without spending hours each week anchored to large dialysis machines.

“Our fundamental study of titanium carbide MXene supported by NSF showed that MXene is biocompatible, able of adsorbing a variety of small molecules, and holds a lot of promise in medical applications, so it is exciting to see it applied for improving and really changing dialysis — an area of need in health care that can help millions of people,” said Yury Gogotsi, PhD, Distinguished University and Bach professor in Drexel’s College of Engineering, who is a world leader in developing and studying MXenes.
