2019 top 10 Chinese Talents in Science and Technology in Europe Award

Our alum Dr. John Zhang (currently working at EMPA, Zurich)  was a recipient of a 2019 top 10 Chinese Talents in Science and Technology in Europe Award. He received his award at the Forum for Chinese Professionals in Europe, held in Dublin, Ireland.
Congratulations to John!

2019 Beilstein Nanotechnology Symposium

World leaders, including Drexel COE faculty and alumni, in the field of MXene traveled to Germany this week for the 2019 Beilstein Nanotechnology Symposium titled, “MXene at the Frontier of the 2D Materials World” . The symposium brought together leading international experts and researchers who are just entering the exciting world of 2D carbides and nitrides to explore new synthesis methods, better understand properties and find new applications of MXenes, a novel material discovered at Drexel in 2011.

Prof. Gogotsi, Prof. Barsoum, and a number of DNI alumni were in attendance at this international meeting.

PhD Student and NSF GRFP Fellow Mark Anaye is enjoying his graduate coop at KAUST in Saudi Arabia  and has already started to produce research results. Please see attached pictures of him and his mentor Yunpei, who is a postdoc in Prof. Husam Alshareef’s group, at the NMR facilities – the only place in the world where there are 10 top-of-the-line  NMR instruments under one ceiling.

That New Yarn?! — Wearable, Washable Textile Devices Are Possible With MXene-Coated Yarns

Producing functional fabrics that perform all the functions we want, while retaining the characteristics of fabric we’re accustomed to is no easy task.

Two groups of researchers at Drexel University — one, who is leading the development of industrial functional fabric production techniques, and the other, a pioneer in the study and application of one of the strongest, most electrically conductive super materials in use today — believe they have a solution.
